3.0 Stars. Missed the Connection. This book is a stand-alone. You will probably need Kleenex, this book did make my black heart tear up.
This book has Titan aka Ty, he's had a lot of loss in his life. But he's still such a strong man.
Then there is Jess. She's creative, crafty, and suffers from a mental illness. She's a senators wife, so she hides most of her "episodes".
While she was out one night, trying to run from her problems, she meets Ty.
Twenty years later, Ty starts looking for Jess through social media. And from there the story goes.
This story for me, was a lot of fluff. It's not that it wasn't a good story, for me it just needed more..
It was also hard at times to follow along with what parts were speaking and thoughts when the " were missing in places.
Another peeve of mine is when there are only two people in the room, and two people in the conversation, saying the other persons name while speaking to them. It's not something done in a real conversation, and feels stunted or robotic.
Another thing that totally lost me.. they were having sex and he's calling her Jenny, she's like aww he has a pet name for me?? Me I'm like Wtf?? You're calling me another girls name.. not romantic.
I just didn't feel the connection between these two. I think everything was to instant and quick.
The ending was touching and hit home.
These are just my opinions, if you pick this up, I hope you enjoy it.
If you're looking for something light you may want to give this book a go.

Missed Connection Viral Series Book 1 eBook K Larsen Mara White Indie Edit Guy Reviews
A missed connection..how many people have had those? A chance encounter? A moment in life that makes everything turn around? One small moment in time and your whole future, your whole world can change.
Titan has been through a lot. A tragedy that happened when he was younger, that he blames solely on himself shapes his life and his current mood..he is prepared to end it all, until he meets 'her' that one cup of coffee, that one chat changes it all for him.
Jesinia is scared, she is lost. She wants to run. She finds herself sheltering from the rain outside hopes diner. A man joins her. This man,so genuine and honest. They share a coffee. They have a conversation. He listens to her. She's she's love in his eyes yet She runs out on him. She leaves a matchbook with a drawing of an anchor for him to find. She was pregnant when they met. She left that diner and returned to her fiancé. Yet she never forgot that meeting
The book is written from both characters perspectives and is refreshing to be able to read both sides to the same story.
It's refreshing to read a story when the main character (Titan) is in his 40s has an older child and partly lived his life already. It's not your typical start to a story and I love it. Once learning about Titans past it is heartwarming to read that he survived his inner guilt and went on to marry and have a child. His wife passed away due to cancer and the last 5 years it has just been him and Luke his son who is now 15.
Jesenia is married, has been for 20 years. Her husband John is a state senate. She is an accessory. She also has a mental illness which her husband is embarressed about. It's hidden from everyone. There is no love between the pair and she has been stripped of all self confidence. The only good thing to one out of this marriage is her daughter, angelina. She is 21 and is jesenias best friend. They confide in each other, work with eachother and Jess really does lean on her daughter.
Both Jess and Titan remember each other and have clung to that chance encounter they had over 20 years ago. They 'anchored' eachother and that has helped them to get through their lives. Each have lived a life, both have their own companies, own children. Yet in their heart they still hold on to that one encounter. It makes you think about fate and how at anytime one little thing can happen that will change your future.
Titans son Luke knows all about this chance encounter. She persuaded his dad to try find 'this woman' and so he does. The search goes viral and this is te beginning of the re connection.
Jesinia has found out that Titan has tried contacting her. She's read the letter and has replied. They start emailing and texting eachother. Both confused, scared and excited. This is the push Jesenia needed to leave her husband. Although she is worried that her past and her mental illness will stad in the way.
Titan is worried that his past and all that has happened will stand in the way.
Luke and Angie join forces and plot to get their mum and dad together..they've had enough of their parents putting obstacles in the way. They know that this could be it for their parents and want to do everything they can to help guide them to each other. They have arranged a weekend get away where a chance encounter will happen. Although this time it's not down to chance.
“Where have you been my whole life?” “Right here, waiting for you to turn up again.”
The weekend was perfect. You can clearly feel a strong love connection between them both. Titan is hot and caring all at the same time, yet he hides some secrets which he is scared about. Jesenia too. She takes the plunge and opens up about her illness and to her relief ty offers nothing but trust and sympathy. Something that jess is not used to. The whole weekend was like a fairy tale. Now they are heading back to real life. Secrets and the past are going to be shared.
Titan confesses to jess that he has hep c..this is what has been keeping him at arms lenth from her..the worry that she will reject him,
It seems that love will and does in fact conquer all.
Each page I read read made me smile. Im fell more and more in love with this story and to ty and Jess's honest love connection.
The story also shows the unconditional love and bond they each have with their children. Father and son, mother and daughter. Best friends. It confirms that the love between a parent and their child is truly the strongest bond on earth.
Titan is unwell. His hep c is getting worse. He needs to have a biopsy to see how his liver is functioning. This is where the book takes a very sharp twist. I wasn't prepared for the heart wrenching story that follows.
Ty's appointment to get his biopsy results was my good news. I cried. It's so so sad. The book is so well written that you can feel all of their pain and all of their worries.
When he tells Luke, jess angie and Andrew The emotions are so high and
It's such a sad defining point in the story. One where you don't want to continue reading as you want them to have a happy ever after but at the same time you need to read on to see how this love and how their story will unfold.
The first half of the book made me smile, feel happy the second half of this book made me cry. Every chapter I cried..every page I think.
Titan stayed strong,he had a mental bucket list. He wanted to see and do thins before his time came. He had all of Luke's future mapped out..from who would look after him,to his finances from his company. He wrote a journal to Luke every night. He got everything in order.
He takes jess to 'hopes diner' on nye the same place and day that they met at over twenty years ago. This is so bittersweet. So heart breaking yet so beautiful at the same time. The true love that they share is inspiring. The fight in Titan is powering and the bond between father and son is unbreakable.
'Who knew that a wedding, which is supposed to be a moment of hope, could feel like the last leg of a journey, a final closing door at the end of our story?'
Titan and Jess marry. It's beautiful, and tear jerking at the same time. Close family and friends witness this exchange and it is a pivotal point in the story. So precious yet so painful.
They all have a perfect christmas. The way the authors explain ty's weakenings and small changes is so clever and each page you read you know that sometime soon The inevitable is going to happen.
Titan does and sees all that he wanted to. He and Jess are officially married,Luke has passed his driving test to name but a few.
Titan passes away in may. With Luke and Jess by his side. Luke has lost both of his parents. The pain he is going through is unimaginable.
The story fast forwards 2 years. Luke is graduating. Jess and all the family and friends are there to see it. Titan is remembered every day. He is with them all the time.
'So long as my heart beats, you’ll be able to feel its presence in the world. And if it stops, your love will live in my spirit and in my soul. We are eternal and I will always be near. You haven’t, nor will you ever, truly lose me. Jess, I am forever a part of you. '
This is my first book read by these authors and it will truly stick with me for a long time. Be prepared to cry. Real cry. The story is so emotional and so heartfelt that you simply cannot miss this. Do not let this book be your missed connection.
5+ "Oh My Word. Brilliant. Devastating. Beyond Beautiful" Stars
My first book of the new year and I already have a new favorite. Having read both Mara White and K. Larsen, I knew that I should expect something that would twist me in a pretzel emotionally and plot twists would most likely abound, but I was still not quite prepared for impact Missed Connection had on me. I finished this book several days ago and have yet been able to pick up another book. Titan and Jesenia wrapped me up in their story and refused let me go or more likely I refuse to let them go.
Twenty years ago on New Years Eve, Titan and Jesenia, seemingly guided by fate, met one night in a cafe. Titan, struggling with guilt and grief, planned to commit suicide but a guiding force led him to Jesenia. Jesenia left a party to find somewhere quiet to try and come to grips with the future that was laid out for her. For a few hours these two talked while a connection was forged. But when Titan came back from the restroom, Jesenia was gone. Even though he tried to find her, he eventually moved on knowing that she saved him that night. Now five years after his wife passed away, with the help of his teenage son, Titan places a missed connection ad on Craigslist that soon goes viral.
Jesenia has thought about Ty everyday for the last twenty years. But her life was planned out and her life left her unable to stay with Ty at the cafe that night. But with her marriage to a Senator being one only on paper, her college-aged daughter pushes her to connect with the man that is searching for her.
After twenty years Jesenia is worried that time has manipulated their memories and real life will never live up to their expectations. Add to that the ton of baggage both have and Jesenia is hesitant to try and make up for lost time. But with Ty's persistence and always faithful presence, she takes the leap hoping that this time time will be on their side.
With beautiful writing that came full circle, a flowing storyline, and a love story that defies time, Titan and Jesenia's romance blew me away. I was swept up in their story. I loved that Mara and K. let the story flow naturally. Nothing was forced and their connection felt real. Both had lives outside each other and I appreciated the fact that those were never swept under the rug. They embraced the whole of each other without any unnecessary drama. Plus I love when kids are part of a story and both Titan's son and Jesenia's daughter were light-hearted additions that kept a smile etched on my face.
It was always obvious that neither character was perfect but I think that was the whole point. They both had their issues which were handled with genuine care and sympathy and not just by the characters but by the way the authors wrote about them. Titan and Jesnia were placed in unique situations which made their story all the more memorable. Their passion for each other and dedication to their children was inspiring. And I can't forget just how delicious Titan was. Oh man. He was the PERFECT book boyfriend. Absolutely dreamy and that's not even taking into account his prowess in the bedroom. *blushes*
Without giving anything away, this book took my emotions, put them in a blender, turned it on high, then opened the lid before turning it off spraying them every where. I have never (and I just finished an ugly cry book a couple weeks ago), cried as hard as I cried while reading this book. I was literally wracked with sobs. Chest heaving, can't catch your breath or see the screen, deep from my soul sobs. Then just as soon as I seemingly had my emotions under control enough to read, I was hit again. My husband even came into the room I was reading in to check on me because he heard me crying. But please don't let that scare you (though if you make it through this book without crying your soul is blacker than mine ;). In the end just like Mara did with Maldeamores and K. did with Jezebel, I was left with a sense of peace. To me that shows just how brilliantly skilled these two authors are.
